Lot 253 John Stuart Mill

British philosopher and civil servant (1806–1873) who was an influential contributor to social theory, political theory, and political economy. ALS signed “J. S. Mill,” one page both sides, 4.5 x 7, Blackheath Park letterhead, July 11, 1866. Letter to a gentleman attempting to arrange a meeting. In part; “It is unlucky that we did not meet at the House. I shall be from home tomorrow and Friday…but should be happy to call on you on Saturday.” In fine condition, with some scattered light creases and mounting remnants to reverse of second integral page.
